Two top ranking Pakistani army officers and a civilian sentenced on espionage charges and leaking sensitive information

A top positioning Pakistani armed force officer has been condemned to death while a Lt General has been given more than 14 years of thorough detainment on charges of undercover work and releasing touchy data to remote organizations. 

Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has supported capital punishment to a resigned armed force officer and a regular citizen and thorough detainment to one armed force officer on charges of "surveillance/spillage of touchy data to outside organizations preference to the national security", an announcement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations s(ISPR) on Thursday. 

"The officers were attempted under Pakistan Army Act (PAA) and Official Secret Act by discrete Field General Court Marshal (FGCM) for isolated cases," said the announcement. 

 

As indicated by the military's media wing, the three men — Lieutenant General (retd) Javed Iqbal, Brigadier (retd) Raja Rizwan, and Dr Wasim Akram, a worker at a touchy association — were sentenced for secret activities exercises and releasing delicate data to outside covert agent organizations. 

Lt-Gen (retd) Javed Iqbal was granted 14 years thorough detainment. Brigadier (retd) Raja Rizwan and Dr Wasim Akram were granted capital punishments. 

The ISPR proclamation did not did not contain any further subtleties of the offenses submitted by the three convicts. In any case, Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor had affirmed the captures of the senior officers in a question and answer session on February 22 this year. 

"There are two officers who are under military authority on the charges of secret activities. The Army boss has requested Field General Court Marshal for them. Both of these are individual case and are not connected to one another, and there is no system thusly," Maj-Gen Ghafoor had said.

1.Retired Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal - Awarded 14 years thorough detainment. 

2. Resigned Brigadier Raja Rizwan - Awarded Death Sentence. 

3. Specialist Wasim Akram (Employed at Sensitive Organization) - Awarded Death Sentence.
