Indian expat dies in accident on way home for good after 43 years in UAE

UAE based, Indian expat’s journey back home for good after 43 years in the UAE has ended in tragedy after he died in a car collision only a couple of km from his home, reported gulfnews.

Rajan Pillai, 62, flew home on Saturday night after as of late resigning from Sharjah Police, where he had worked for 30 years, his shocked neighbours and colleagues said.

His son and brother, who had gone to receive from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala, were also injured in the accident on Sunday, they said.

“His son Amal was in a critical condition till this morning. His brother sustained injuries but is in severe shock and despair,” V. P. Sreekumar, a Sharjah resident who had studied with another younger brother of Rajan, as per Gulf News.

He said he was informed that the brother was driving the vehicle which slammed into a transport. As per him, Rajan had approached the UAE 43 years back.

“Two of his elder brothers had earlier returned home for good from the UAE. They had retired from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority.”

E.P. Johnson, president of Sharjah Indian Association, who additionally hails from Sooranad in Kollam region, the main residence of Rajan, said the mishap had occurred when Rajan was simply 10minutes far from achieving home.

"It is an extremely shocking news. We stretch out our genuine sympathies to his family." 

He said a tyke had kicked the bucket on a similar spot a year ago. "The tyke had tumbled off a bike driven by the mother and was kept running over by a lorry." 

Associates of Rajan, who was a representative with the Electronic and Service Department of Sharjah Police, said they were likewise stunned to hear the news. 

"WWe are very sad that this happened to him. He was one of the most oldest employees here. No one anticipated this wind in destiny for him," said one of them.
