Is The Rock set to return for a big match at Crown Jewel?
According to Ringside News, there was a rumour suggesting Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson received a $20m offer from Saudi Arabia to wrestle in WWE’s next overseas Pay-Per-View event Crown Jewel as the Universal Champion.
However, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer doesn’t believe there is any truth to the speculation and expects The People’s Champion to be absent on November 2 at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.
The Great One though seems keen to come back for one more match as he revealed last July that he can’t wait to return to a WWE ring.
The Brahma Bull said: “I can’t wait to get back into a WWE ring.
“Everybody always asks me what’s it like being in a WWE ring and I always tell them, there’s a lot of celebrities and athletes too, I say there’s nothing like it.
“There’s nothing like [being] inside a WWE ring because there’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none.
“That was always, and will always be the best part of my job when it comes to wrestling, whether I’m wrestling a match or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”
However, The Rock’s busy Hollywood schedule can’t allow him to be part of WWE any time soon as he has limited time available and there’s also a serious risk of injury.
Johnson has now become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood after taking part in blockbuster hits like the Fast & Furious franchise, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Rampage.
He has also worked with some of the industry’s biggest stars like Christopher Walken, John Travolta and Jason Statham.
The 46-year-old’s success in Hollywood however came after a stunning eight-year stint in WWE where he caught a lot of eyes in entertainment.
The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment is one of the greatest WWE legends of all time as he is a 10-time world champion and also had some unforgettable wars with the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, Triple H and many more.
The Rock’s last official match took place at WrestleMania 32 where he destroyed Erick Rowan in six seconds in an impromptu bout.
His last big feud took place five years ago against Cena and culminated at WrestleMania 29 where he lost the WWE Championship to The Leader of the Cenation.
The WWE legend’s cousin Roman Reigns is on the rise as the next face of WWE and is currently the Universal Champion on RAW.
