India beat Sri Lanka to win Under-19 Asia Cup title for sixth time

India won the Under-19 Asia Cup on Sunday with a 144-run victory over Sri Lanka in the final at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. This comes just a couple of weeks after the Rohit Sharma-led senior Indian team defeated Bangladesh in the final of the Asia Cup.

Indian captain Prabhsimran Singh won the toss and elected to bat first. Half-centuries by openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (85) and Anuj Rawat (57) ensured the Rahul Dravid-coached team got just the start it needed. Then, skipper Singh (65) and Ayush Badoni (52) added unbeaten fifties to guide India to a mammoth 304/3 in 50 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka never looked to be in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Only opener Nishan Madushka (49) and Navod Paranavithana managed to make decent contributions.

Lanka ended up getting bowled out for just 160 in 38.4 overs, giving India a sixth U-19 Asia Cup triumph. Left-arm spinner Harsh Tyagi was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 6 for 38 from his 10 overs.
