Tough punishments await reckless drivers during rain

Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Al-Amr, Director General of Civil Defense Lt. Gen. said a committee has been formed to draft new laws that will punish reckless drivers who place their lives in danger by venturing to drive through flooded valleys during rain, reported saudigazette.

Despite frequent warnings by the Civil Defense to avoid risk, numerous drivers disregard them and go down such valleys for experience, Al-Watan daily paper cited Al-Amr saying. His announcement came amid the introduction of the International Exhibition for Security and Safety.

Drafting laws that keep drivers from imperiling themselves needs some time, Al-Amr stated, including that the Civil Defense is resolved to uphold the laws on heedless violators.

He said the Kingdom is witnessing rain and Civil Defense teams are stationed in all dangerous locations and are coordinating with other security and service agencies to protect the lives of people, he added.
