SR8.8bn agriculture development program approved
The Council of Ministers affirmed on Tuesday that a royal decree has been issued approving the adoption of the Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development Program to support farmers in various regions of the Kingdom.
Financial allocations for the project amount to SR7.35 billion for a time of seven years notwithstanding SR1.5 billion as the capital expense for the task.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Salam Palace, also approved SR250 million to develop the palm and dates sector in the Kingdom.
Minister of Media Awwad Al-Awwad said in a press statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session that the allocations showed the utmost care and keenness of King Salman to support farmers and extend generous support to various activities and programs in the agricultural sector so as to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.
The Cabinet also endorsed a royal decree to award medals to 189 officers, staff and non-commissioned officers of the Ministry of Defense for their work and achievements in serving the armed forces and contributing effectively to the ‘Decisive Storm’ and ‘Restoration of Hope’ military operations.
