Saudis mourn death of little girl who shared her battle with cancer online
The death of a little Saudi girl who shared her cancer battle online was mourned by thousands of Saudis and Arabs this week.
During her battle with cancer, Nawal Al Ghamdi shared videos and pictures of her from the hospital on Snapchat. She soon became popular on social media for her courage and strength with which she fought the disease, Sabq.org reported.
However, as she succumbed to the disease on August 8, residents of Arab countries mourned her death. Her name stood amongst the top trends on Twitter just hours after the news of her death was posted.
Her untimely death was mourned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other Arab countries.
Mourning the death of the brave soul, Egyptian comedian, and actor, Mohamed Henedy wrote, "If a person got a flu, they'd stay in bed and be unable to move... Nawal Al Ghamdi and so many other children like her across the Arab world set examples in resistance and endurance. May God have mercy on her soul. Her smile will always be with us."
