Saudi conjoined twins to be separated today
It has been decided to separate the Saudi Siamese twins Sheikha and Shumukh at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in King Abdul Aziz Medical City on Thursday, in accordance with the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah has announced, reported Arab News.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, chief general of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and leader of the careful group, anticipated that the medical procedure would take 12 hours and to be completed in eight phases, with cooperation of 30 specialists and experts and also professionals and nursing staff.
He expected this to be the 46th successful surgery to separate conjoined twins in the Kingdom under the Saudi humanitarian program, which has served 21 nations on three continents so far.
