Saudi coalition 'foils attack' on oil tanker off Yemen's coast

The Saudi-drove alliance battling in Yemen said on Wednesday that it thwarted an "impending fear based oppressor assault" on an oil tanker off Yemen's coast on the Arabian Sea. 

The tanker was cruising 90 nautical miles (167km) southeast of Yemen's Nishtun port towards the Gulf of Aden on Tuesday when it was focused by four pontoons, with one of the remotely controlled vessels endeavoring to detonate it, alliance representative Turki al-Malki said in an announcement continued state news office SPA. 

The announcement didn't state who was behind the assault or give insights concerning the oil tanker. 

"The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will keep on actualizing every single essential measure and strategies to kill and dispense with any maritime dangers," al-Malki included.

Yemen lies along the Bab al-Mandeb Strait at the southern mouth of the Red Sea, one of the most significant exchange courses for oil tankers heading from the Middle East to Europe.
