Saudi Arabia to Organize Virtual Donors’ Conference for Yemen 2020

Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional, and international arenas.
Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will organize next Tuesday the virtual donors’ conference for Yemen 2020, in partnership with the United Nations.
The paper said that this conference is aiming to increase global awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and to announce financial pledges to meet the basic needs of Yemeni people who were affected by the terrorist of the Houthi militia.
The paper emphasized that Saudi Arabia's invitation to the conference comes as an extension of its distinctive humanitarian contribution worldwide.
Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper said in its editorial that Saudi Arabia’s global role, principles, and vision through its leadership of the G20 have resulted in the initiative of debt service suspension that assists the poor countries to overcome the effects and repercussions of the Coronavirus crisis.
The paper said that the G20 secretariat announced that 36 countries applied for suspension of official bilateral debt payments to assist them in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its economic impact. The initiative could provide around $14bn in immediate and critical liquidity relief by official bilateral creditors alone for the poorest nations in 2020, G20 secretariat said.
