Saudi Arabia gives 200 tonnes of dates in handout to Bangladesh

Saudi Arabia has presented Bangladesh with a gift of 200 tonnes of dates.

Sayed Al-Gatani, deputy counsellor of the Saudi Embassy in Bangladesh, presented the gift to Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Shah Kamal at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The ministry will distribute the dates to the general population through the union parishads.

The Saudi government has presented Bangladesh with gifts of dates before the start of Ramadan for the past few years. The relief secretary asked Al-Gatani to send the gift ahead of the next Ramadan as well.

The deputy counsellor said he would inform higher officials of the Saudi government regarding the matter.
