PM Imran Khan to attend Saudi investment summit next week
Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit to Saudi Arabia on October 23 to attend an investment conference in his second visit to the Islamic kingdom, the country’s information minister confirmed on Thursday.
The prime minister will make a one-day visit to Riyadh, where the Future Investment Initiative summit will take place from 23 to 25 October, to discuss economic cooperation in view of Pakistan’s financial crisis.
The summit is being hosted by the kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman to promote his reform agenda. His plan for economic and social modernisation, called Vision 2030, aims to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil and provide new jobs.
PM Khan went to Saudi Arabia on his first official visit on September 18 amid reports of Pakistan seeking the kingdom’s help in resolving its financial woes. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary stated that Pakistan will further strengthen its relation with Beijing.
The prime minister is also scheduled to leave for a three-day visit to China on November 3.
Moreover, a high-level delegation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also visit Pakistan soon to discuss options to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
