Government staff in Saudi to gradually return to work on Sunday

Government employees in Saudi Arabia are set to gradually return to work on Sunday (May 31).

According to Minister of Human Resources Ahmed al-Rajhi, 50 percent of public sector workers will return to officers, with the remainder continuing to work from home.

Those returning will be split into three groups, to start at 7.30am, 8.30am and 9.30am.

Government branches will initially remain closed and operations carried out digitally.

The resumption of work will build up to 75 percent of government staff the following week, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency, with all employees, both public and private sector, returning to work as normal as of June 14.

The kingdom suspended work in all government sectors on March 16, aside from health and security, in a bid to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
