Gold and jewelry shop owner faces probe over fraudulent promotion
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has made legal action against a gold shop in Riyadh after it reported announced misleading offers through Twitter and Instagram, reported Saudi Gazette.
Gold and jewelry shop claimed that its prices were the less in the Saudi Arabia, Viewing the irrational offers as a daydream and an attempt to swindle the customers,inspection teams from the ministry began observing the shop.
After striking the shop, the monitors found 3,144 pieces of jewelry that did not bear the trademarks of the importer or the factory where they were made.
The shop even couldn't create records to demonstrate the wellspring of inception. The auditors seized number of such pieces and sent them for examination by the concerned research center.
The ministry brought the proprietor of the shop for further investigations, after which the case will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
When the doubts were affirmed by the investigators, the prosecution will allude the case to the settlement council accountable for valuable metals and diamond stones for taking legitimate measures against the violator as per the arrangements of the Precious Metals and Gem Stones Law and its official controls.
The ministry reaffirmed its assurance to keep checking every single valuable metal and diamond stone shops to confirm the normality of their work and their commitment to relevant rules and regulations.
