Five divorces every hour : Justice Ministry

According to Justice Ministry and carried on Saturday by Makkah daily, there were 46,300 divorce cases in the Kingdom during 2018 at a daily rate of 129 cases and five divorces every hour, saudigazette reported.

The rising divorce cases were a serious threat to the family stability and the country's social fabric, Ministry add.

 

According to a number of experts and specialists, there were six main causes of divorce including the husband not doing his religious duties toward his wife, quick response to anger, wives neglecting their marital duties, extensive use of social media tools which inculcate doubts and suspicions in the heart of one of the couples, choosing the wife according to beauty and looks without consideration for the ethics and religion and ignorance of the gradual steps for divorce consisting of patience and arbitration by other family members.

According to a number of experts and specialists, there were six main causes of divorce including the spouse not doing his religious obligations toward his better half, snappy reaction to outrage, wives disregarding their conjugal obligations, broad utilization of internet based life devices which teach questions and doubts in the core of one of the couples, picking the wife as per excellence and looks without thought for the morals and religion and obliviousness of the steady strides for separate from comprising of tolerance and intervention by other relatives.

Abdullah Al-Jifin, a Shariah lecturer, asked the judges not to allow divorce easily and to keep the marriage contract on for a long time so that couples might review their attitudes regarding it.

He called on educational institutions to enlighten the male and female students from an early age about the divorce fiqh (jurisprudence).

"The divorce will have an adverse effect on the children and the society at large," he said.

Bayan Zahran, a female lawyer and legal consultant, said family readiness measurement should be strictly applied on the couples before they tie the knot.

"The program of measurement of the family readiness represents a practical test for those wishing to get married," she said.

She said spouses don't as a rule request separate from except if for grave reasons, for example, that they will experience the ill effects of the continuation of the wedded life, the husband not spending on them, abusing them and the social incongruence. 

Ahlam Al-Shahrani, another female legal counselor and legitimate advisor, trusts that the scholarly contradiction is a fundamental driver of divorce.

She said absence of religious impediment and obstruction of other relatives might be different purposes behind divorce. 

Shahrani requested broad preparing programs on the wedded life before the marriage is solemnized. 

As per the service, Makkah with 12,959 separation cases in that year best the various districts in the quantity of the separation cases taken after by Riyadh which had 10,740 cases and Madinah 3,505.
