COVID-19: Saudi Arabia reports 1,402 new coronavirus cases, 35 deaths

Saudi Arabia today reported 1,402 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 284,226, the Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

According to Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al Abdul Ali, 35 people have died due to complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 3,055.

He said that 1,775 more COVID-19 infected people have fully recovered, pushing the total number of recovered cases in the Kingdom to 247,089. The recovery rate has risen to 87 per cent. The ministry conducted more than 50,000 PCR tests over the past 24 hours.

There are 37,490 actives cases, including 1,890 critical patients under intensive care, a 21 per cent decline in the number of critical cases over the past two weeks,” Dr. Al Abdul Ali said.

“There is no scientific evidence that one can be infected with the virus twice,” he emphasised. “Today, we reap the fruits of adherence to preventive measures taken since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March,” Dr. Al Abdul Ali added.
