Complaints against Saudi Electricity Company rise by 243%

Complaints against the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) by subscribers increase by 243 % in 2017 to achieve 4,239, reported Saudi Gazette.

There were 46.8 complaints for each 100,000  subscribers, compared with 1,740 complaints in 2016, according to sources.

They said the Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA) has settled around 93 % of the complaints. As per sources the complaints against the SEC were basically about billing, the tariffs, power cuts, and substandard service, among others.

They said repeated power cuts and substandard services represented 88% of complaints against the company a year ago.

The ECRA gives uncommon consideration to omplaints from subscribers as it is in charge of protecting the rights and interests of the subscribers.

The SEC is the sole wholesaler of electricity to the subscribers all over the saudi arabia aside from in Yanbu Industrial City, where this administration is being given by the Jubail Electricity and Water Company (Marafiq).

As per the sources, the complaints against bills and duties rose by 23.6 %, power cuts by 8.6 %, disconnection of supply by 9 % and substandard administration by 1.4 %.
