Archaeologists discovered 100000-year-old site in Al-Kharj
Archeologists in Saudi Arabia have discovered a 100,000-year-old site in the mountain run south of Riyadh dating back to the Paleolithic period.
The joint Saudi-French mission was done at archeological locales under the supervision of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, which included field studies at the slopes encompassing the Al Kharj Mountains, part of the hills overlooking the Mawan valley, Ein Farzane and the hills overlooking the town of Al Shadidah.
This is the first time that sites from the Paleolithic time frame were found in Al Kharj and additionally destinations that began from the Upper Paleolithic time frame, as per the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Paleolithic time frame was otherwise called the Stone Age that extended from 2 million to 10,000 years back, while the Upper Paleolithic time frame started around 40,000 years prior.
The mission included 18 individuals from the Saudi and French researchers and authorities in the field of archeological unearthings.
The joint Saudi-French mission was completed inside the structure of an understanding marked between the two gatherings on September 21, 2011, to investigate the archeological locales at the Al Kharj governorate in Riyadh.
Prince Sultan Bin Salman, president of the tourism commission, appreciated the efforts of the mission and stressed the importance on preparing the site to receive visitors.
