The recent study reflects a large increase in chronic kidney disease (CKD) however, In India there is no study and minimal data on the prevalence of chronic kidney disease. You'd be alarmed to know that the leading reason for CKD is obesity - especially abdominal obesity, which is pretty common among Indians.
A study revealed that 48 per cent of men and 63 per cent of women have a waist circumference beyond the accepted cut-offs for the Asian population, thus, making them prone to kidney diseases.

Kidney disease progresses to an advanced stage by the time the patients develop any of the following symptoms - weakness and fatigue, pain while urinating, swelling, frequency or urination, lower back pain, lack of appetite, vomiting and nausea and itching and skin rashes all over the body.
