On its 88th National Day, Some Facts about Saudi Arabia

Saudi National Day is celebrated on September 23, every year to commemorate the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Families go out to shopping centers and celebrate, while others make unique traditional meals to make this day extraordinary. It is a major day for each Saudi, and for everybody who is living in Saudi Arabia. It is a lovely nation with a coastline, desert, date trees, mountains and enormous beauty.

 

Here are some facts about the country:

  1.  Saudi Arabia has 83,000 square miles in area, which makes it the 13th largest country in the world.
  2. Saudi Arabia will have the World’s Tallest Building in 2018 called the Kingdom Tower, which is 3,280 ft.
  3. It has two of the biggest mosques in Makkah and Madinah, which is visited by more than millions people every year.
  4. One of the ancient cities ‘Mada’in Saleh’ is located in Saudi Arabia. It has been designated as world heritage site by the UN.
  5. Saudi Arabia desalinates (takes out salt from seawater to make it usable) more seawater than any other country.
  6.  It is the largest country in the world without river.
  7.  Riyadh has the world’s biggest camel market and it sells about 100 camels per day.
  8. Saudi Arabia has more oil than any other country in the world.
  9. Rub-Al Khali is the largest continuous sand desert in the world covering some 650,000 square kilometers and parts of Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and Yemen.
