15 Most Sacred and Historic Places within Masjid al Nabawi

The Masjid al Nabawi is an important mosque for all the Muslims as it is one the mosques that are built by the Prophet (PBUH) Himself.

It is considered as the 2nd largest mosque in the world and a sacred place for all the Muslims. Located in Madina, the mosque is the holiest place for Muslims after Masjid aal-Haram

Not only the Masjid is sacred, rather there are important landmarks located within it which are very dear to Muslims. Listed below are those 15 Sacred Landmarks within Masjid al Nabawi, which would indeed be interesting to discover and learn.

01-House of Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her): On the east of Roda Rasool S.A.W, is the door of the house of Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her). Fatima (RA) is the Prophet’s youngest and dearest daughter.

The house of Fatima is located within the Masjid al Nabawi. It is considered as an important Islamic landmark as she (May Allah be pleased with her) is the daughter of our Prophet (PBUH).

02-Roda Rasool S.A.W: Roda Rasool S.A.W is the most important location within Masjid al Nabawi. It is the place where Holy Prophet has been buried. This is the very location where he passed away.

He got ill and took permission from his other wives to stay at his wife Aisha’s (may Allah be pleased with her) house. He died at the Hut (house) of Aisha R.A which was made of unbaked bricks at an area of 4×5 meters.

A gold grill has been placed at its entrance and visitors can only see through viewing holes. The grave of Hazrat Abu Bakr R.A and Hazrat Umar R.A rests with the Holy Prophet’s grave in Roda Rasool S.A.W.

03-Mehrab-e-Tahajjud: Mehrab e Tahajjud is the sacred location where Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to offer Tahajjud (a voluntary prayer offered at night). It is located behind Hazrat Ali’s (RA) Hut.

In order to locate it, one shall search for a raised platform which is just in line with Bab-e-Jibraeel and behind Roda Rasool S.A.W. Indeed, it is a sacred and holy place for Muslims. Muslims try to offer the Tahajjud prayer as a symbol of following Sunnah.

04-Original praying spot of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him): Every Muslim indeed wishes to pray at the exact location where Prophet (PBUH) used to pray.

The pillar which is in line with Bab-e-Jibraeel within Masjid al Nabawi is the exact spot where the Prophet used to pray. It is the place where Prophet (PBUH) used to lead the prayer when prayers were offered facing Masjid Al-Aqsa.
